1972

The Philosophy Department was founded at Guizhou University.

1998

Guizhou University established the College of Humanities (a deputy bureau-level unit”), incorporating the Philosophy Department into it.

2002

Guizhou University reestablished the College of Humanities (a “departmental-level unit”).

2004

Due to the merger of the original Guizhou University of Industry into Guizhou University, the College of Humanities underwent restructuring.

May 2016

Guizhou University's College of Humanities was divided into three separate entities. Among them, the School of Philosophy and Social Development was established based on the foundation of the Philosophy Department.

August 2022

The School of Philosophy and Social Development was renamed as the School of Philosophy.
